On May 7th, we launched our third annual 7th grade Carnival! It's exciting and we know that this will be a memorable experience for our students. What We're Doing: Each 7th Grade ARRE time will be designing and planning a Carnival Booth for our last day of school. Students are earning points in class relating to parts of the ARRE Code (Achievement, Respect, Responsibility, Empathy). These points will be utilized to obtain tickets to play at the carnival booth. The more points earned, the more tickets to play at the booths, which means more opportunities to win raffle tickets for prizes. Each ARRE time is building their booth with a cause/charity in mind. We hope to raise money, which will be donated at the end of the Carnival. The booth that has the most attendees playing at their booth, will have the honor of getting the money raised donated to their cause of choice. Causes/Charities: Some of the causes/charities selected in the past by ARRE times include:McFarland Fire and Rescue, McFarland Food Pantry, Dane County Humane Society, Porchlight Inc., Team Seas (Ocean Conservancy), Occupaws, Team Trees, Make a Moment. Funds donated will go directly to one of the following: 1. Donation to a Charity (We hope to put 50% of our donations towards the winning charity) 2. Purchase of Booth Items (The goal of the booth is to tie into science and be as "green" as possible. If ARRE times can recycle 100% of their booth building items, they will get bonus points to play at the Carnival) 3. Purchase of raffle items (Since students are earning raffle tickets we need to buy raffle items for students so they can win prizes. We're thinking of gift cards, themed baskets, clothing/apparel etc.) 4. Any remaining money will go into their "grade-level" account, which will travel with them through 8th grade. Please consider donating if you are able. We would also love monetary donations, raffle prize donations (gift cards, themed baskets, small toys, services etc.) Donations can be made by Wednesday May 29 Keep reading for more info: New this year: 7th Grade students will participate in a 7th grade Community day. 7th graders will join our 1st grade friends for their literacy time. We will be working on strategies of how to be a good mentor and role model for our younger students. We will spend some time reading and connecting our school communities. We will then transition to groups around town where we will spend an hour working on projects. These projects within walking-distance include: IMMS Garden, Marking Storm Drains in conjunction with Ripple Effects, Trash Pick-Up, Resurfacing Egner Park playground with wood chips. The goal is to help our middle schoolers recognize the impact they can have on their community. We're looking for pledges to help support this work and donation to charities.

The Indian Mound Middle School robotics team is fundraising to buy new equipment and send one or more teams to the State Tournament on March 13th, 2022. We are working to raise 2,000 dollars. The Robotics team does not receive funds from the district to buy equipment. Students pay a sixty-dollar fee for the season. Student fees pay for 80% of the registration fees for the season. To continue with a high-quality team, we need to raise funds each year. Please consider donating to support the hard work our sixth, seventh and eighth-grade students have done this season. Thank you Alan Kinnaman IMMS Robotics Coach
