About this fundraiser

The Homerun Club is running a Capital Campaign to fund much needed improvements to the Varsity and Junior Varsity baseball fields at the High School with the goal of bettering the overall experience for the players, coaches and fans.

Our goal is to raise $225,000 for all of the improvements, to be completed in phases:

Phase 1: COMPLETED IN 2018 and 2019

*DUGOUTS-The existing Varsity field dugouts were far too small for a typical roster size and coaching staff at the Varsity Level. The JV field didn't have any dugouts, therefore the JV players and coaches were left out in the open during bad weather events.

-Both teams now have dugouts.

*PROTECTIVE FENCE CAPS- Both fields had protective fence caps installed along the top of the outfield fences. Additional protective fence caps needed to be added along the top of the foul line fencing to help prevent injury to a player reaching over to make a catch.

- Protective fence caps have been added along the top of the foul line fencing.

*NEW SCOREBOARDS FOR BOTH THE VARSITY AND JV FIELDS - The existing scoreboards provide minimal information for players, coaches and fans.

- Both fields have new scoreboards.

- CURRENTLY WORKING ON -

Phase 2 and 3:

*VARSITY FIELD UPGRADED SOUND SYSTEM - The existing sound system is dated and somewhat difficult to hear and understand.

*JV FIELD BATTING CAGE- The JV field has no batting cage which limits the JV coaching staffs ability to conduct high quality practices and provide good pregame warm-up.

*JV FIELD BULLPENS - There are no bullpens on the JV field which requires pitchers to warm up without a pitching mound in foul territory during games. The new bullpens will improve the in-game experience and safety of our players, they will also improve the quality of practices and pregame warm-ups.

*VARSITY FIELD BATTER'S EYE SCREENING - There is no batter's eye background on the varsity field, therefore the background for a hitter above the outfield fence is the High School building, which is lighter in color making it more difficult for a hitter to see the baseball.

*JV FIELD OUTFIELD FENCE REINFORCING AND WIND SCREEN - The JV field does not have a wind screen because the outfield fencing isn't strong enough to withstand strong winds if a windscreen is installed.

*NEW CONCESSIONS AREA IN THE LOWER LEVEL OF THE PRESS BOX - Currently concessions are organized and served just adjacent to the press box using portable tables. The indoor area would greatly improve the ability of volunteers to organize and serve concessions especially during bad weather.

In addition to the in-season games, the tournaments and games hosted by The Homerun Club throughout the spring and summer seasons bring hundreds of out of town guests into Waunakee. While at the games, these people shop and eat at the local businesses and become familiar with our community.

The Homerun Club is excited to share multiple opportunities for you to help with our Capital Campaign. We hope to raise approximately $110,000. through our Pennant Program; approximately $30,000. through Scoreboard advertising; and the remaining $85,000. through personal donations. Each of these opportunities will allow community members and businesses to show your support for the Waunakee baseball team, High School athletics, and to the continued growth and positive development of our Village.

The Homerun Club thanks you in advance for your generosity and dedication to our great community and it's continued efforts to Build On Tradition.
