About this fundraiser

HOSA - Future Health Professionals - is a career and technical student organization that was founded in 1976; it prepares students in middle school, high school, and college for careers in the healthcare field. The Waunakee chapter started in 2011, and over the years has had strong competitors at the state level, and has attended ILC several times. Students who participate in Waunakee HOSA are leaders and volunteers in their community. Recently, they have volunteered with Ronald McDonald House Charities and Gilda’s Club in Madison and will be supporting a local family at Ada’s Run in June. Our HOSA leaders have launched a new Medical Discovery Program this year, networking with 11 different health care professionals. Many of our students work in the community within health care organizations, and our alumni have returned to serve our community in multiple ways. This year, we had forty one students compete at our regional conference, and fourteen of these students advanced to our state competition in nine different events (having placed in the top 15 in the state in their event).

In April, we had several students participate in competitive events at the Wisconsin HOSA State Leadership Conference (SLC). From SLC, we had two students place in the top 5 in their respective events, qualifying them to compete at the International Leadership Conference (ILC) in Nashville, TN this June. Hayden Janus, competing in researched persuasive writing and speaking and Ella Kaufmann, competing in Surgical Tech would like the opportunity to attend ILC in Nashville from June 17-22 where they will represent Wisconsin and Waunakee HOSA.

Currently, we are looking for support from local individuals, businesses, health care providers, and organizations to attend ILC in Nashville. The costs for these two students to attend includes $260 for registration and workshops, $200 for excursions during the conference, $2,600 for five nights hotel stay, costs for all meals over six days, and additional expenses associated with travel. Any amount donated would be appreciated.

You will be recognized as a donor on our instagram page. If a donation of $50 or more is made, your name or business name will be printed on the shirts we will wear to Nashville. If you are able to donate $100 or more, we will print your logo on the back of the shirt. (We will need to order the shirts by the end of May, so would need information by that time.) All donors will also be thanked in a newsletter write up once we return from Nashville.

If you have any questions or need additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me at christinagascho@waunakee.k12.wi.us or 608-655-8045. Thank you for your consideration in supporting our students regarding this excellent opportunity.

Sincerely,
Christina Gascho
