About this fundraiser

In our 5th grade classes, we are reading the book The Tiger Rising, by Kate DiCamillo, which features a tiger who is mistreated and in need of rescuing. In helping students understand the relevance and to connect our curriculum to a global problem, we would like to raise awareness and funds to help the local nonprofit, Wisconsin Big Cat Rescue in Rock Springs, Wisconsin. This nonprofit has a close connection with Waunakee, as many people in the community have donated their Christmas trees for the tigers to play with!

As many of the tigers surrendered are older, they have increased medical needs. We would like to work towards raising $900 to contribute to the vet bills of these tigers, as well as provide them with some Boomer Balls to help keep them agile! Donations can be made online Classmunity website or to the main office at Waunakee Intermediate School between now and October 31st.

Thank you for helping bring awareness to the needs of animals in our community. If you’d like to learn more about this organization, feel free to visit their website or facility.
