Support Freddie's Home Plate at Nelson Park

by: Joe Orsund

Fred loved going to Baseball games, Plover and Stevens Point Legion, Scandy, Lanark, & Plover BABA games and even more so, going to his grandchildren’s games. He not only loved going to baseball games but he also enjoyed dedicating his time and resources to all of these programs, alongside many other athletic programs, through organizing events, running the existing concession stand, monetary donations, etc. The love for his town and community ran deep in his blood, which he was extremely proud to be a part of!Fred was a longtime member of the Portage County Tavern League, the VFW, and as of recently was inducted into the Tomorrow River Schools Wall of Distinction! In memory of Frederick “Freddie” Jastromski, who passed away at the age of 84 in October of 2020, the Village of Amherst and associated fundraising team are honored to dedicate a concession, restroom, press box and pavilion structure, which is to be located at Nelson Park in Amherst, Wisconsin.
