Versa Tiles for independent hands on practice of math skills

Through Donors Choose we can receive matching donations provided for projects using a classroom kit of Versa Tiles from Hand2Mind so for every $20 donation run through them it will be $40. I am going to utilize the Versa Tiles for 4th grade to provide another option for learning stations during math to provide independent practice. The classroom kit will come with 24 for workbooks covering 6 competency areas aligned to national math standards. The tiles are self-correcting so students get immediate feedback so they are getting repeated practice that will improve skills. As I started the school year with >50% of the students in my room struggling with grade level expectations I am determined to provide the experiences they need to strengthen their grade level skills and improve future outcomes.

Having an organized place to store iPads with a small footprint will help us transition more easily between learning with and without iPads. This will increase our time on task learning and help students as they develop new routines for caring for the electronic devices in our classroom.

FULLY FUNDED $488 Funding through DONORS CHOOSE PROJECT #4456459 Our classroom is a 1:1 device learning space. We use both iPads and/or Chromebooks on a daily basis as learning tools. In order to allow everyone the ability to work on his/her own without distraction, it is important for each learner to have a high quality set of headphones. In addition, I'd like to ensure that my students are not doing permanent damage to their hearing by having the volume too high. Presently, I have no way to control volume, and I often can hear the sound coming from several students' headphones. Having a class set of Mokata Kids Headphone Bluetooth Wireless Over Ear Foldable Rechargeable Stereo Sound Headsets will ensure that all students have access to higher quality headphones that also protect children's hearing from permanent hearing loss! All learners will have the same headphones, plus there won't be any cords to trip over, swing around, or damage by pulling out of the devices. When students have corded headphones, they often go through 2 or 3 sets per school year due to poor quality and improper handling. Having wireless headphones will alleviate these particular problems and also protect their hearing with the volume limiting feature of these headphones. Everyone having the same brand will simplify troubleshooting for me and the tech department!

VAHS Theatre Fundraising campaign

EVERY dollar we raise throughout the year helps the Verona Area Theatre Department students learn all aspects of theatre, be it performing on stage or working behind the scenes. We are anxious to welcome our new performing arts center in Fall 2020 as our new high school opens. There is a tremendous amount of work that goes into producing quality shows in the spring and fall and supporting those shows with costuming, special effects, technology, program and ticket printing, etc. We have already begun working on our fall musical "The Will Rogers Follies, A life in Revue." The students will be lead by a talented adult staff and will also receive volunteer help from our FANtastic community of family, friends and area businesses.
