We are seeking support for our VASD Type 1 Diabetes Mentorship Group. This year, our Verona Area School District (VASD) Nurses began this mentorship opportunity by bringing together interested district students living with Type 1 diabetes to meet, connect, and support one another. Our initial efforts connected 18 1st-12th graders with peers from other schools who share similar experiences to build confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging. With district and community support, we hope to enhance our mentorship opportunities to provide guidance, encouragement, and shared knowledge, equipping our students living with Type 1 diabetes with the tools they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally while managing the unique challenges of this condition. Donated funds will be used to enhance our efforts within our district and expand our outreach to the larger Dane County community, benefiting our students. This includes, but is not limited to: -Additional supplies needed for our mentorship group meetings, such as signs, banners, tablecloths, folders, and craft activities -Mentorship group T-shirts -Small prizes for our group activities -Offsetting transportation costs when cabs are needed to attend group meetings -Space rental, specifically efforts to involve other districts in an expanded mentorship group -Diabetes-friendly food and beverages for snacks -Offsetting field trip costs for those in the group facing financial hardship -Supporting opportunities for more district staff to attend Thank you for your consideration and support!

This Classmunity page is set up to assist the VAHS TWI Student Advisory to carry out TWI celebrations and projects throughout the school year. The students have lots of ways to celebrate and continue to build community between our K-12 TWI program, students, and families, and these funds will be used for those projects.

Field trips and enrichment programs are a great way for students to grow in their learning through interactive hands on experiences. At Sugar Creek, we want to ensure that all students can participate in engaging trips, motivational speakers, and enrichment programs to enhance the learning they do in the classroom each day. While we provide money to classrooms each year, costs continue to rise which inhibits our ability to provide these meaningful learning experiences.
