Horicon Athletic Complex

by: Rich Appel

The School District of Horicon is experiencing some very exciting changes! We are now nearly a year into using our new and updated school, with 4K through 12th grade on the same campus at 841 Gray Street in Horicon. Our school and most of the surrounding property now reflect the forward-thinking programs we offer in the School District of Horicon. The exception to that is our current track & field. Our original track deteriorated over time due to its low-lying location. A new track and football field would complete the renewal of our entire school campus and provide a modern athletic complex that our students and the community deserve! Our complete vision would include a turf football field inside of an 8-lane track with bleachers built into the hillside west of the school. There would also be a combination concession stand/press box/restroom facility at the top of the hill and a terraced plaza overlooking the stadium. A stadium that uses turf can be utilized for sporting events, physical education classes, and community activities nearly year-round. To date, we have received pledged donations that total $1.85 Million toward this exciting new project. Our goal is to raise $2.8 Million for a grass field or $3.4 Million for a synthetic turf field. How can you help? As either a Marshmen Alumni or a friend of the District, would you consider making a financial gift to support this final piece of the project? You can choose to make an individual gift, or you can work with a group - a class, a team, a business, etc. to make a group gift. Gifts will be acknowledged and advertised in some way on the new press box/concession stand. Contributions to the School District are tax deductible under 26 U.S.C. § 170(b)(1)(A)(v). Your gifts will help create a facility that inspires pride in our school and will provide decades of opportunities for our community. I hope you will consider contributing to this project. I have enclosed a pledge form for you. You can obtain more information about the project by visiting: www.supporthoriconathletics.com. There is an option to donate online at this website if that is more convenient for you (pay by credit card). Please contact me at 920-485-2898 (work) or rappel@horicon.k12.wi.us (email) if you have any questions. Sincere thanks for your support and consideration. Proud to be a Marshmen!
