Please join us in raising funds to build a new playground for KM Explore & Wales Elementary, a cornerstone of the Wales community for almost 50 years. We believe building strong relationships with our learners and their families is important in sustaining a positive culture. Our playground facilitates building those relationships between learners and families. The current playground was built in 2004 and has sections that are unusable by our learners and community because it is either broken or inaccessible. Our kids need better outdoor play options to promote health and wellness, to make recess more fun, and to provide a safe neighborhood gathering space for all kids. Over the last few years, the W.E. Campus PTO, through your contributions, has been able to raise $31,000. These fundraising monies will go towards our overall goal of $60,000 for the new playground equipment. New Playground Features: 32 Active Play Events: decks, climbers, ramps, slides, balance/climbing features and play activity panels New Inclusive Playground Features: Brava Universal swing, Volta Inclusive spinner, Volito Multi-Person swing, elevated play events accessible by ramp, play events accessible by ground level, and Playbound Poured-in Place Surfacing A new playground with inclusive options is extremely important for meeting the needs of ALL our learners. We want our learners to be fully included and able to enjoy the playspace. Physical activity has been shown to have a positive impact on learning and we want to be sure that every student has the opportunity to play! Please consider supporting our new playground. -W.E. In 2018, a group of committed baseball parents, coaches and supporters came together around an ambitious vision: to create a baseball complex that will foster community growth while allowing players of all ages to develop their skills in a safe, functional and fan-friendly environment. Kettle Moraine High School, the Kettle Moraine Jr. Laser Baseball Club and additional community teams currently utilize the four fields at Wales Community Park. The goal of the Step Up to the Plate project is to transform these existing fields into a baseball complex that will successfully service all groups. Key players in this initiative are: the Step Up to the Plate Committee comprised of volunteers representing all ages of the Kettle Moraine Baseball Program, the Kettle Moraine School District, and the Village of Wales employees who work closely with Wales Community Park. There are many current challenges presented by the fields at Wales Community Park. Kettle Moraine High School's move to Spring baseball in 2019 makes it imperative that enhancements are made to the existing complex. Current project plans call for construction to be completed in two phases. Phase I is scheduled for Spring 2018. It will include improvements to the Varsity field's fencing, dugouts, bullpens, batting cage and sound system. The Kettle Moraine School District's commitment is to upgrade infield dirt on the JV and Varsity fields, improve the warning track on the Varsity field, and assist with rebuilding bullpens on the Varsity field. Phase II is scheduled for Fall 2018. It includes installing artificial turf infield on the Varsity field, improving drainage on the Varsity and JV fields, improving spectator seating, installing electronic locks and cameras, and making functional improvements to ball field areas. The Kettle Moraine School District's commitment is to provide improved drainage, install concrete for bleachers and other areas needed, connect to the school district's fiber network for key cards and surveillance cameras, and provide engineering and professional services. In addition to the Kettle Moraine School District's commitment, community donations are needed to help make this project a reality. Please consider donating online or mailing a check payable to KM Booster Club to: KM Step Up to the Plate Campaign 349 N. Oak Crest Dr. Wales, WI 53183 Thank you for your support!

Magee Elementary has had a long tradition of preserving the natural landscape on its 20 acre campus. We are fortunate to have an active prairie which we maintain through brush cutting and periodic burning. In addition, we have an oak savanna habitat that we manage by removing buckthorn and honeysuckle during our annual Earth Day celebration. Managing an area for invasive species is a long and arduous process. Invasive species are specialists in propagating quickly, as well as sprouting quickly from living roots after being cut down. To maintain a healthy savanna habitat, invasives need to be dealt with annually to reduce competition to native plant growth. A new restoration strategy is being used, and Magee Elementary utilized this tool during their May 2017 Environmental Educational Experience: GOATS! It was so successful, we'd like to bring the goats back in Fall 2017. Please consider adding to what was raised for the May 2017 visit so we can bring the goats back in the fall, and so we can fund future restoration projects at Magee such as prairie restoration (purchasing of prairie seed), brush removal and chipping. Thank you for your support!

Alice, Lily, Carson, and Bella (8th graders at Kettle Moraine Middle School in Dousman, WI) are taking on the challenge of designing AND building a product to fulfill a need for a community organization. They are in Mr. Gutbrod's STEM Independent Study class. The purpose of this project is to truly challenge the students! They have been responsible for all aspects of this big undertaking including: identifying the organization they want to help, determining the needs of their customer and needs of the product, generating ideas, designing the product, building the product, budgeting, and fundraising for the project. They have decided to do a Classmunity project for funding purposes. Even the video's script and outline were created by these students. Supporting these students also supports the organizations they are trying to help. Thank you for considering. Contact Mr. Gutbrod (gutbrods@kmsd.ed) with any questions.

KMHS Girls Tennis has made great progress over the past number of years and it is due to the work ethic and dedication of the players and the coaching staff. To date, we have been able to accomplish this through self funding program enhancements: uniforms, balls, carts, banquet awards, etc. Our objective is to help the Wales community by funding many of our program costs without tapping into district funds that can then be used for other district needs. We limit the number of fundraising events we hold (one every five years) to achieve this objective. The girls tennis program is a no-cut sport so we've had team sizes ranging from 40 to 80 girls and we want every teammate to have a uniform that represents their team. Over a five year period, the uniforms get worn and dirty and we're currently in need of replacing them, which comes to approximately $4,000. Additionally, we are happy to report that the district is currently building a tennis complex with 10 new tennis courts! The cost of score cards, ball carts, and balls adds another $5,000 to our fundraising goal. Because we fundraise every five years rather than annually, our goal is to raise enough to cover replacement uniforms, balls, and other training equipment over the same period so we've set our goal at $20,000. Please consider donating to the program with whatever amount you feel comfortable with.

KMHS Volleyball has made some great progress over the past number of years and it is due to the work ethic of these players and my awesome coaching and athletic support team. To that end, we have been able to accomplish this through self funding program enhancements; uniforms, balls, carts, etc. We have done this to help the people of Wales by not using district funds so they can be used for other district needs to improve the student athlete experiences. We do annual fundraising that has been increasing each year so we can help out beyond the needed money for the program replacements. This includes fund raising $35,000 over the past four years to replace the nets and poles throughout the middle school and most of the high school. These poles will last 20+ years. We are looking to replace the final group of nets and poles in the high school main gym at a cost of $15,000.

Dear Prospective Kettle Moraine Wrestling Sponsor, We would like to thank you in advance for taking the time out of your busy schedule to read this and consider our needs. In an effort to not put an extra burden on the wrestlers, we are moving away from a traditional Fundraiser where each family is asked to sell, collect money, and deliver goods. The beauty of this Fundraiser, 100% of the funds collected will directly impact the wrestling team. We are looking to increase the Wrestling account balance, so that we will be able to travel to an overnight wrestling tournament, purchase new wrestling singlets, and purchase new wrestling mats for the wrestling room. The youth wrestling club has made a very generous donation already for new wrestling mats, but we do have some more funds to raise. We are looking for new and exciting ways to grow our team, we believe raising these funds will help us provide a fulfilling and rewarding experience for the wrestling team. We thank you for your consideration and support, without your support we would not have the opportunity your generosity has afforded us. Coach Patenaude

“The mission of the KMGBC is to teach fundamental, sound basketball skills in a safe and positive atmosphere while at the same time encourage players to be confident and conduct themselves with integrity and respect in order to represent the Kettle Moraine Community in a positive manner. It is the goal of the club to serve the community by developing prepared athletes who will be an asset to the high school program and the community.” In keeping with this statement, the 8th grade team, Class of 2026, has planned a service project that allows us to carry out the mission of the club in a special way. We have partnered with the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee and will be putting on a basketball clinic for girl’s 3rd-5th grade. We are excited to volunteer our time, to introduce young girls to the sport of basketball by sharing our knowledge of the sport, and to show them that exercise and sports are fun. We also hope to create a special, memorable connection between our community and theirs. Maybe this will start a trend. For this service project, we will need a basketball for every girl who attends our clinic. We are raising money to purchase 25 basketballs with an estimated cost of $12 each. The basketball will be a gift from us to them. We also plan to treat the girls to a pizza party after the clinic as a special surprise. Our goal is to raise $500 and any extra funds raised will be given as a cash donation to The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee. Please stop by our table during the January 21st KMGBC Youth Night event at the High School Girls basketball games. We will collect donations throughout the evening, before and during the JV and varsity games. If you or your business prefer to donate with a check, please make the check payable to KM Community Education. Please consider donating to this worthy service project!

Principal Bestor introduced two campus improvement projects with the goal of being completed this school year in his Laser Update that deployed on November 2. https://tinyurl.com/33a6zcu7 Both projects were envisioned in partnership with the KMHS Hospitality Parents to not only re-energize students and staff after a couple of challenging years, but also offer students, staff, and in one case, the community, spaces to foster community, energy, and pride for years to come. The plan is to transform the staff lounge over the Christmas holiday break and then build an outdoor pavilion in spring - just before school ends. We are very excited about these projects because both of them will be accomplished in part by reusing existing assets, but more importantly, by providing opportunities to engage students in the creation of some of the elements of each project. As one example, the Woods and Metals classes are currently refurbishing long butcher block counters and turning them into a buffet and table with black 3” x 1” metal tube bases, and students will be painting the walls of the staff lounge. For the spring project, Mr. Bruening’s architecture class will be engaged to help develop the outdoor pavilion. Both projects are achievable this year with support from the community. THIS FUNDRAISER IS EARMARKED FOR THE STAFF LOUNGE TRANSFORMATION. Another fundraiser will be shared after the first of the year for the outdoor pavilion. We welcome your financial support, or if you own a business, or know someone who does, donations of furniture, appliances, etc. that help make the envisioned staff lounge transformation happen. Please feel free to reach out to Principal Bestor at bestorj@kmsd.edu or 262-968-6200 ext. 4001 or schedule a meeting with me to share your thoughts on ways to bring these projects to fruition. Thank you so much for your support of these two campus transformation efforts!

Very Important: Please select the green "Place an Order" button to make sure your player receives credit. DO NOT select make a donation. The goal of the KMJL program is to provide a high quality, accessible program that offers a safe football experience to all youth in the Kettle Moraine area. Every KMJL player has a part to play in helping the program make that goal a reality every year by raising a total of $100 in donations. Accomplishing that is easy; simply share this link with family, friends, neighbors, and community members – and ask them to help support the Junior Laser family. Every time we leave the field—whether it be a practice, scrimmage or game—the Kettle Moraine women’s soccer program puts their hands together and chants “Family on Three! One, two, three, family!” It has been our goal and mentality to create a culture that is safe for athletes to take risks, learn and grow along side their teammates. Family is not something we are, it is something we do. Being a part of this family requires active and living relationships and a constant pursuit of a shared goal. We are asking that you become a “member” of this family. By supporting Kettle Moraine women’s soccer in our fundraising goals, you will further help to create a positive environment for our athletes to continue to learn and grow and challenge this family to achieve their goals. Your financial support will provide athletes the best equipment available so that they are able to compete at the highest possible level. How your money will directly support our program includes pinnies, uniforms, balls and flags. Thank you for supporting this family!

Academic Excellence. Citizenship. Personal Development. These attributes form the basis of the KM Graduate Profile. Yet, over the past year, KM educators have also personified these goals. In the midst of an unprecedented public health crisis, our educators have embodied the very essence of excellence. They have demonstrated the most committed form of citizenship. They have challenged themselves and tested their abilities to provide a quality K-12 education throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. It would have been much easier to close KM’s doors, but our district has a proud history of blazing the trail when the easy solution won’t produce the desired results. While schools across our state and our country did close their doors, our educators faced the uncertainties. They set aside their fears and rolled up their sleeves. They engaged in extensive planning and diligent implementation to provide KM families with an important choice: learn safely at home or learn safely in person. The Kettle Moraine Education Foundation (KMEF) wishes to recognize the resolve, strength, courage and diligence demonstrated by KM educators throughout the COVID crisis. By “educators” we include all those who make KM education happen - teachers, aides, nurses, custodians, counselors, cooks, bus drivers, administrators, office staff and more. Each and every person who works in our schools who so bravely prioritized students’ best interests this school year. Please join KMEF in recognizing KM educators with a donation to the Honor an Educator wall displayed at KMHS. With your donation, you will be helping KMEF to fund materials for a plaque recognizing the resolve and commitment of ALL KM educators and staff had to excellence during this extraordinary time. Any donations that exceed the amount needed for the plaque will go toward funding future grant requests of educators and staff. The plaque, to be produced in the KMHS Design Lab, will say: Excellence Beyond Expectations In recognition of the courage, commitment, and care demonstrated by the Kettle Moraine staff who persisted though the COVID-19 pandemic to meet the needs of our students and communities. We are forever grateful that you were on our team.

Our Dousman staff have worked so hard this year motivating our students to learn! Let's give them a Bullfrog Salute! To celebrate their work, the Dousman PTO is collecting contributions toward surprise catered breakfasts and lunches now through the end of the school year. Typically, we would potluck taco bars or other special meals during conferences and at other times of the year but due to current restrictions we are unable to do so. Instead, we'll provide a catered meal approximately once a month to face-to-face staff and make special deliveries to our virtual staff! Any amount you give is appreciated and we can all use a little good!

Enjoy a comedic whodunnit prepared especially for life during quarantine! KM Drama Club is keeping theater alive in the time of COVID this fall with the virtual one act "Whose Crime Is It Anyway?" by Jenny- Alice Thompson. Produced in a manner similar to other professional Virtual Theatre productions, this humorous murder mystery allowed for students to perform regardless of quarantine restrictions and fully from their own homes. "Whose Crime Is It Anyway?" is the KMHS campus fall play this year, prepared especially for entrance into the Wisconsin High School Forensics Association One Act Play Competition. Featuring a cast and crew from across the KMHS Campus, the team received rave reviews at the District and Sectional Levels before Advancing to State. Join us to support and celebrate the work of this team that was recognized for character development, ensemble work, and determination to produce theatre despite slow wifi, personal computer limitations, and quarantines. Plot synopsis: A collection of famous fictional characters (including Dracula, Elizabeth Bennett, Frankenstein, and Miss Havisham) come for a dinner party at a creepy castle without knowing why they were invited. Professor Moriarty's butler reveals some incriminating information and when the lights go out murder is afoot. Full of puns, references to the characters’ source materials, and modern mystery spoofs (like the movie CLUE), this whodunnit has just the right balance of comedy and drama. Livestream performances of the pre-recorded performances will be on demand for one viewing each during the window December 19-22. Ticketed patrions will recieve exclusive links to watch their choice of the Sectional and State Theatre submissions. ** All proceeds from ticket sales & donations help cover costs of production and registration fees for the Compeition Series**

Friday, November 13th, is World Kindness Day. As a KM community, we know the importance of spreading the message of kindness #KMKind. In an effort to expand our reach with this positive message, we have partnered with AlwaysBeKindLakeCountry.com to encourage everyone to choose kindness everyday. “Always Be Kind” is not just a reminder for the students in our KM school district, but also for all members of our KM community. We are encouraging everyone to join us in this initiative as we work to spread kindness all across the Kettle Moraine community. Please consider purchasing an “Always Be Kind” t-shirt, designed specifically for KM. AlwaysBeKindLakeCountry.com, the creator of the “Always Be Kind” initiative, has committed to supporting local school districts involved in spreading this positive message by donating 10% of each t-shirt sale back to each school that participates in order to support our kindness initiatives in Kettle Moraine. Orders will be delivered to each school and distributed by homeroom/advisory/classroom teacher. Shirts should arrive in early December, at which time we will identify a district and community-wide “Always Be Kind Day” for everyone to show their KM pride by wearing their “Always Be Kind” shirt. Together, let’s make Kettle Moraine and the Lake Country area shine bright with positivity and kindness. If you have any questions, please contact Alyssa Voigt at voigta@kmsd.edu. Shirts will be sold beginning on November 13th and ending on November 20th (11:59 p.m.). KM Drama Club is excited to present the 11th annual Student Directed One Act Festival! With consideration to COVID-19 concerns and precautions, KM Drama students have been working hard since mid-summer to produce three thought provoking, and diverse One Acts fully directed and produced by veteran KM theatre students. This year’s line-up includes: THE AUDIENCE written by MICHAEL FRAYN, directed by GWYN MARTIN, KMHS senior. An amusing satire about audiences, where the characters in the play are actually watching the audience expecting them to perform. A GAME written by DENNIS E. NOBLE, directed by LINNEA HIETALA, KM Perform senior. Three women accept an invitation to take part in an experiment—a game in which a small room is divided into three equal areas—one for each person. As the game progresses, we see the drive that makes each human want to possess more than her neighbors—a drive that causes hatred ... and starts wars. THE WORLD DOESN’T REVOLVE AROUND YOU written & directed by CASSIDY O’NEIL, KM Perform junior. A comedy about the solar system where each of the planets from Mercury to Pluto reflect human stereotypes and reveal relevant commentary for our present age. Ticket Options include in person or online! Thank you for your support of our student directors and performers. Your ticket purchase and applause at our shows (whether in person or online) is what makes theatre on the KMHS Campus possible each year. Ticket sales and lobby fundraisers at performances are how we fund 95% of KM Theatre/Drama Club experiences every year (production costs, guest artist experiences, WHSFA One Act registration etc.) AND we hope to continue these opportunities as much as possible this year despite the pandemic. THANK YOU FOR JOINING THIS EVENING OF STUDENT DIRECTED THEATRE!

KM Summer Academy invites you to this summer’s performance of State Fair! Featuring an Academy Award-winning score by the incomparable team of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hamnerstein II (The Sound of Music, The King and I, Oklahoma!, and Cinderella), this tale of an American heartland tradition is filled with love and laughs, providing a recipe for enjoyment as wonderfully warm as homemade mincemeat pie. State Fair tells the story of the Frake family - Ma Melissa, Pop Abel, daughter Margy, and son Wayne - as they head off to the Iowa State Fair for three days of food, ribbons, romance, and good, old fashioned competition at its best. Will Melissa’s mincemeat recipe win First Prize? Will Abel’s prize hog bring home the Blue Ribbon? Well, Margy and Wayne couldn’t care less about that - instead, they’re each looking for that special someone on the Midway. And, in doing so, they both discover what really matters in love and life, continuing the tradition that so wonderfully brings and keeps families together. KM Summer Academy invites you to this summer’s performance of Sister Act! Featuring original music by Oscar and Tony Award winner Alan Menken (Little Shop of Horrors, Newsies, Beauty and the Beast) and filled with Motown-inspired songs and dance routines, this uplifting musical was nominated for five Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Sister Act tells the hilariously entertaining story of Deloris Van Cartier, a sassy, disco diva who hides out in a nunnery after witnessing a murder. Her feisty nature cannot be concealed by her nun’s habit, and she causes quite a stir among the sisters under the firm hand of the Reverend Mother. The struggling convent choir is Deloris’s only saving grace, and the sisters find their voices through her not-so-divine intervention. Unfortunately, the powerful performances of the groovy new convent choir draw outside attention, and Deloris’s cover is blown. Will the strength of her newfound sisterhood be enough protection? Join in on the fun as the music of this show enlightens and inspires one woman’s journey home. Filled with a new twist on traditional gospel music, spirited dancing, and delightful humor, Sister Act is truly a reason to rejoice!

Cushing Elementary is breaking ground on our first community garden! The process began with the fourth graders exploring different sites on the school grounds to determine the best location for the garden. Thinking of the needs of the plants, they settled on just north of the main parking lot by the pine trees and the hill. The fourth and fifth graders then drew proposed garden designs for the site. After fourth and fifth graders narrowed down the designs by voting, two designs were then voted on by the school to choose the final one. John Gifford has built two of the garden beds with his math group and the other two were built by Matthew Fischer with the assistance of a Girl Scout troop. To date, supplies for this have been funded by the Girl Scout troop and the Cushing PTO. This garden is going to support curriculum in many academic areas at all grade levels. In fourth and fifth grade, the students are studying plant and animal structures that allow them to thrive and survive. Our future needs include: a fence to keep out the deer and rabbits, student designed rain barrels, a compost bin and supplies to build the remaining garden beds next year. Any donations of equipment, human power, and monetary donations will be much appreciated. Let us shoot for the stars and get together for a Cushing Farmers Market sometime in the future. Questions regarding the Cushing Community Garden can be directed to Mr. Last at lasta@kmsd.edu.

Kettle Moraine DECA (An Association of Marketing Students) is once again organizing “Bash on the Grass,” DECA’s charitable pre-game event. This event will take place on October 6th from 3-7 p.m., prior to the HOMECOMING football game at Kettle Moraine High School, when the mighty LASERS host the Blackshirts of Waukesha South. Proceeds from Bash on the Grass ticket sales will benefit MDA Summer Camp recipients – a place where kids afflicted with MDA attend one week out of the summer. The cost of sending 1 child to camp is $800.00. It is our goal to raise $8,000.00 and send 10 kids to camp. Any additional funds raised (our total goal is $20,000) will be used to support our Kettle Moraine DECA organization. DECA’s “Bash on the Grass” is a traditional event that the community looks forward to during the fall football season. A big draw has been the unique attractions such as a Giant Rock Climb, Zip Line, Laser Tag, and other various activities. This is where we need your help! We are seeking sponsors for this great event.
