KM Football Sponsorship

by: Justin Gumm

In past years, the Kettle Moraine High School football program has developed a winning tradition, including numerous successful seasons and a State Championship in 1988. We are currently on a quest to return the Lasers football program to its championship ways. Our coaching staff and student athletes are very excited about the opportunity to become the catalyst in this return to a championship culture in our school, community and on the football field. We realize that in order to return to that championship culture, it will take a community effort. We would like to offer you an opportunity to take a more active role in the Laser football family by becoming a Sponsor for the 2017 season. Money raised will be used to update our video and field equipment. These budget items are essential to maintaining a successful program. Please review our sponsorship tiers under "Rewards" for information on what each sponsorship level includes. Questions about the program and sponsorship opportunities may be sent to Coach Justin Gumm at gummjustin@kmsd.edu. Thank you for becoming a more active member in the Laser football family. You can follow our progress by following us on Twitter and Instagram @kmlaserfootball and liking our KM Lasers Football page on Facebook. We will open up the season at home vs Waukesha West on August 18th. Thank you for your support; we look forward to building a strong relationship!

Magee Environmental Education Experience

by: Melinda Mueller

Magee Elementary has had a long tradition of preserving the natural landscape on its 20 acre campus. We are fortunate to have an active prairie which we maintain through brush cutting and periodic burning. In addition, we have an oak savannah habitat that we manage by removing buckthorn and honeysuckle during our annual Earth Day celebration. Managing an area for invasive species is a long and arduous process. Invasive species are specialists in propagating quickly, as well as sprouting quickly from living roots after being cut down. To maintain a healthy savannah habitat, invasives need to be dealt with annually to reduce competition to native plant growth. A new restoration strategy is being used, and Magee Elementary will be utilizing this tool during our Environmental Educational Experience: GOATS! The Goat Project is a Grade 3-5 seminar research program. Before the goats even arrive, students have been engaged in investigating goats, native species, invasive species, and restoration practices. The research will meet current information reading and writing targets, as well as life science targets. As students gain knowledge, they will become ambassadors to the project. They will observe the goats in action and take part in their care. They will also lead tours for other students in grades 3-5 in the Kettle Moraine School District. We are seeking funds to help cover the cost of the "rented" goats, Environmental Education Experience t-shirts for Magee students and staff involved in the project, and future restoration projects at Magee such as prairie restoration (purchasing of prairie seed), brush removal and chipping. Thank you for your support!
